Patty Libby Proprietor
Often credited with putting the Hingham dining scene on the map, Patty Libby is the founder and owner of the Square Café, an eighty seat bistro in the heart of Hingham Square. She is also the co-founder and former partner of Tosca, Fire King Bistro and Stars on Hingham Harbor, which is where she became known as one of the South Shore’s most beloved and respected business owners. Every restaurant she has created in her twenty year career has been a popular success. It is her style, vision and sheer determination that have made her a successful woman in business. As a hands-on owner, Libby oversees the menu creation, creates the look of the restaurant. She strives to provide her employees with a work-life balance, the result being a loyal team that is energized and happy to come to work each day. Patty and her husband Tim live in Scituate, MA. They have two children, Shane and Erin.

Andrea Schnell Executive Chef
As Executive Chef of the Square Café, Andrea Schnell has garnered praise from some of the regions toughest food critics and has established a loyal following of regular customers, locals and visitors of Hingham, who can’t get enough of her inventive cuisine. Andrea received her formal training at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. But, her passion for food was nurtured as a young girl cooking side by side with her mother who operated a catering business from home. At a time when most teenagers were playing sports and socializing, Andrea was consumed by her work in local restaurants and reading cook books. By the time she graduated from culinary school, Schnell was already a highly sought after chef and was offered the sous chef position at the Cliff House in Ogunquit, Maine. She opted to return to her home and took a position at the historic Windsor House in Duxbury. From there she joined the Square Café and was thrilled to take on the challenge of creating a successful from the ground up. As Executive Chef she not only creates the menus but also manages food cost and kitchen staff. By all accounts she is a huge success. Over her seven years at the Square Café, she has received “Best of Boston” award from Boston Magazine twice. She has been featured on numerous television programs such as TV Diner “Cooking with Costa” segment, New England Living on NECN and in print in the Boston Globe, Patriot Ledger and South Shore Magazine. The best publicity comes from her loyal customers.

Mark Doherty General Manager
In the spring of 2002, Patty called upon long time friend Mark to help open the cafe- she needed a person with the knowledge and wisdom of experience to manage a fine dining restaurant. For the last five years Mark has helped the Square Café rise to new heights. He is dedicated to all aspects of the restaurant. He personally runs all the financials and budgets. He manages the front of the house with the same style and class you would find in downtown Boston. He has taken the wine program to an international level and has won Wine Spectator awards for his boutique European wine list.

John Chiaviaroli Assistant Dining Room Manager/ Bar Manager
John has been in the service business for thirty five years and is most noted for his warm and friendly customer service and team spirit. John is a mixologist and director of Square Café’s famous martini list. John’s work experience includes Bella’s in Rockland, Ma and Naked Fish Company. John is a team player and committed to the mission of the Square Café to provide quality customer service and a strong management presence. John is an alumni of Boston College High School and has a bachelor’s degree in Business Management from University of Massachusetts, Boston.
